Our response to LA fire.
In response to the challenges LA is facing, we are fast-tracking the launch of our new series of sustainable, fire-resilient single-family homes, and new manufacturing capacity.
Since early 2024, we’ve been developing a fire-resistant single-family home designed to exceed California’s strictest fire codes (WUI), available to select customers, who were affected by wildfires in Northern California. Given the disaster of the Palisades and Eaton fire we are accelerating our launch to help as many as we can.
This summer, we’re launching our first robotic microfactory in Los Angeles to help families rebuild with climate-resilient homes quickly and affordably. Our next-generation construction factory will enable us to create custom, sustainable, and fire-resistant homes at a speed and cost that were once unimaginable.
All Cosmic single-family homes are built with sustainable materials, prioritize owner health and wellness, and are net-zero by design.
As a public benefit company, we are offering custom concept designs for affected properties. Similar design services cost ten’s of thousands or more with traditional architects:

As part of our Cosmic Foundation initiative we will be sharing more information on how we are planning to support the communities.
.
Our standard SFH design is compliant with the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) code, strictest building code for fire affected areas.
Here are more details on Cosmic’s fire-resilient design:
Structural Wall Panel: made out of high-grade timber frame and sheathing that is covered with two layers of fire protection providing fire resistance that exceeds WUI code.
Roof System: we offer two options, standing seam metal rated Class A per ASTM E84 (the highest classification for surface burning characteristics) for pitched roof and roof membrane rated as ASTM E108 Class A for flat roofs, with a fire-resistant underlayment.
Exterior wall panels: we offer two options: cement board siding that is non-combustible materials carrying ASTM E136 and deep charred wood option rated as ASTM 119 with thick fire-resistant thermal insulation underneath.
Windows and doors: aluminum frame and tempered dual-pane glass. This combination eliminates ignitable exterior materials and ensures the frames maintain their integrity at high temperatures.
Interior materials: including Class A-rated (ASTM E84) drywall for walls and ceilings and fire-rated rigid and rockwool insulation throughout, with NFPA 13R fire sprinklers available for upgrade
Our projects team works with clients to extend fire-smart thinking beyond the unit itself. This can include guidance on deck design, landscaping choices, and site preparation that align with current best practices in fire safety.
Our homes are built with all natural materials, providing high-end finishes, with no VOC
